Teresa M. Rocha Cervantes, 65, passed away unexpectedly on January 27, 2026, in Kansas City, Missouri.
Teresa was a proud graduate of Bishop Ward High School. She Began her career in insurance before dedicating herself to raising her children, a role she embraced wholeheartedly. Known for her fun-loving spirit, Teresa carried a lightness that made people feel at ease. She never held grudges, always chose kindness, and had a remarkable ability to see the good in others. Her joyful outlook on life shone brightest in the special bond she shared with her grandchildren.
Before her illness, Teresa found great joy in supporting her children’s involvement in Special Olympics, cheering them on at tournaments, dancing, and taking spontaneous car rides. Music was one of her greatest loves, and she passed that passion on to her children and grandchildren- whether it was Whitney Houston, Roy Orbison, Los Tigres Del Norte, Los Cadetes De Linares, or lively cumbias filling the house. She was also a lifelong Kansas City Chiefs fan, known for passionately yelling at the TV whenever she disagreed with a referee’s call.
Teresa is preceded in death by her parents, Jenny and Albert Rocha, and her eldest son, Richard Cervantes.
She is survived by her children: Jessica Cervantes (Steven), Elizabeth Cervantes, Crystal Castillo, Alejandro Castillo, Thalia Dela Rosa (Manuel), Cesar Valenzuela, and Maria Valenzuela. She leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Adela (Josh), Richard, Aracelly, Priscila, Juan, Angelina, Ashley, Leo, Shabi, and Elijah, as well as her great-grandchildren, Mateo and Sebastian. Teresa is also survived by her sister, Lola Olmos (Jose), her nieces Anna and Maria Luz, and her nephew Jesus José.
Teresa ‘s warmth, humor, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and the many lives she touched.
As we commend Teresa to God’s loving mercy, we trust in the promises of eternal life through Christ. May the Lord grant her eternal rest and may perpetual light shine upon her. Until we meet again, may Teresa rest in peace among the saints in heaven.
