Juan Francisco Chavez Lopez

10 April 1977 to 01 February 2026

Juan was the youngest of ten children born to his parents Jose Chavez and Roberta Lopez in Villa Matamoros, Chihuahua, Mexico where he spent his childhood. He came to the U.S. as an adult on his own. He had worked at various labor jobs but most recently carpentry work at a factory building and installing kitchen cabinets.

He loved his native Mexico's music - especially rancheros and nortenos along with the stereo equipment to play it. Juan also loved pick up trucks; western wear shirts, cowboy boots and hats; along with horses whether in races or rodeos. He loved going to dances for quincineras and weddings or when his friends with the band Los Hermanos Portillo de Parral Chihuaha were in town.

Juan was preceded in death by his father Jose Chavez, three of his older siblings (Jesus Jose Chavez Lopez, Manuela Chavez Lopez and Miguel Angel Chavez Lopez) and various cherised uncles and aunts.

He is survived by his mother Roberta Lopez viuda de Chavez, three brothers ( Everardo “Lalo” Chavez Lopez, Victoriano Chavez Lopez and Matias Chavez Lopez) and three sisters (Irma Graciela Chavez Lopez, Carmen Lorena Chavez Lopez and Maria del Socorro Chavez Lopez), his wife of 18 years Marcia Dietrich, and his stepsons Nicholas “Nick” Dietrich, Matthew “Matt” Dietrich and Jeffrey “Jeff” Dietrich. Juan has a son, Rodolfo Lopez Carrasco, from a previous relationship and a grandson both in Mexico. Along with many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends in the U.S. and Mexico.

Juan was full of life and strength. A force of personality and will be missed by his families and friends that he has left behind too soon. We look forward to seeing him again in the next life.
