Irene Muñoz Diaz

September 5, 1944 — July 20, 2025

Irene Muñoz Diaz was raised in Camargo, Chihuahua, Mexico. In her 20s, she met and married Gregorio De Leon and they were blessed with 6 kids together. Irene was cherished and loved by her children, grandchildren and even great-grandchildren. She loved her family unconditionally and never judged anyone. For her family, she was a symbol of trust, comfort, courage and strength. Irene was a stay at home mom, loved to cook, share her recipes and feed everyone all of the time. She also enjoyed to dance, sing, watch telenovelas and play La Loteria. Irene also loved small chihuahua dogs and had a couple of dogs herself.

Irene lived at her ranch with her late husband in Mexico until his passing 3.5 years ago. She left behind many lifelong friends, whom she still remained in contact with, and moved to Kansas City to live with her only daughter and son-in-law.

No matter how Irene felt, she always had a smile on her face and she fought until the end, never giving up. Irene always had a sense of humor and found happiness in everything and anything. Every challenge that God gave her, she accepted and prayed her way through serving as an inspiration to everyone that loved her. She will live in the hearts of all of her close ones forever.
