Bernard Fred Grado, IV

Bernard Fred Grado IV, aged 71, of Kansas City, KS, passed away peacefully at home on September 7th, 2026.

Born on August 28th, 1955 in Kansas City, Kansas. Bernie was the second eldest of seven children born to Alicia Ramirez and Bernard F. Grado Sr. He attended Wyandotte High School before serving in the U.S. Army, where he earned the Expert Infantryman Badge and rose to the rank of Sergeant while stationed in Germany with the 36th Infantry. Following his military service, Bernie worked as a lineman and proud UAW member at General Motors Fairfax Assembly Plant for 31 years until his retirement.

Bernie was truly one of a kind. He was a proud caretaker of his family, generous by nature, ornery and spirited, and quick with a unique sense of humor. He loved being a grandpa more than anything in the world and cherished the time spent with his family and friends.

Bernie is survived by his children, Anthony Grado (Sarah) and Stephanie Grado (Kyle); their mother and his former wife, Petra Grado (Don); grandchildren, Benjamin and Eva (Stephanie); siblings, Alicia (Grado) Anderson, Bebe (Grado) Fiscus (Jerry), Henry Grado, and Veronica (Grado) Sanderson (Dave); as well as many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alicia and Bernard, and his brothers, John Grado (Lisa) and Ramon Grado (Patty).
